Murder and Mayhem (VAR12)
Murder and Mayhem provides two differing entertaiments. Firstly Murder shows the talents of Tod Slaughter who chilled the spines of his audiences for many years with his melodramas. Two included here are "Murder in the Red Barn" based on a true story, and the famous "Sweeney Todd, Demon Barber of Fleet Street" who ran a murderous hairdressing business. Edgar Wallace, the famous crime writer also reads from his own short story, the Man in the Ditch.
Mayhem reaches another seam of entertainment. Wee Georgie Wood creates his famous childhood Black Hand Gang, whilst Will Hay introduces us to his awkward pupils in the Fourth Form at St. Michael's.
18 Tracks in total, recorded between 1928 and 1932.
