Various Artists (All The Girls Are) Lovely By The Seaside (CDR90)
The Seaside Holiday was a key feature of Edwardian life for many people. With the coming of public Bank Holidays and the availablity of cheaper railway fares many could afford a few days at the sea. Particularly popular with the younger age group the seaside offered the possibility of fewer restrictions compared to town life. This aspect is clearly spelt out in this selection of Music Hall songs which date mainly from just before the Great War which put a temporary halt to such excursions.
